If it seems outrageous that the No. 9 player in the world would not be part of the Ryder Cup, then consider the European team that first crushed the United States in this popular exhibition. The highest-ranked player Europe had in 2004 was No. 9 in the...

Scatter shooting while wondering if there is another Heath Slocum in our future. It’s not news that I’m not a FedEx Cup fan, but I am a fan of playing with the New York skyline as a background. What did old blue eyes say? “If you can make it here you...

Holy cow, it's September 1. How did this happen? I am not ready to head into the downward slide of the golf season yet! It's funny, last night as we were playing in our weekly "Scramble Tuesday" event, it was like Mother Nature decided...

Golf Mind & Body

We've all heard it before and we all resist the thought of a regular exercise program – no matter how little time it takes or how small the work-out. But what would you think if the few minutes each day you devote to the health of your body would...

What's New

  • Re: It's official ... I hate links-style courses ...

Right, I was in several bunkers over the weekend, but that didn't bother me ... I don't have a problem with hazards, but the long grass isn't a hazard, it's just something that slows play and costs lots of strokes because of how you have to play them with the rules ... my 89-90 will go into the handicap computer as 85-84 after adjusting...

  • Re: It's official ... I hate links-style courses ...

Thanks for sharing this great insight and perspective into Links courses...I have only played 1 or 2 and did not have fond memories of either one...for me it was the bunkers...there were LOTS of them, and if there a part of my game that has never really evolved, it's bunker play. I got frustrated early and never enjoyed either round. 18 penalty...

  • It's official ... I hate links-style courses ...

I played a course this past weekend with my sister (back story: we were supposed to play a tournament there, which was canceled, but they offered us a package to come for the weekend and play so we took them up on it). It's called The Preserve and it's on Rathbun Lake in southern Iowa ... it's brand new (I think it opened in 2009) and won...

  • Re: wrist firm

When I was 12 I broke my wrist and ruptured my growth plate. Ever since then when I swing a golf club I can't keep my left wrist "firm."

  • Re: 2010 FedEx Cup Playoffs!

Happy Monday Morning!! Week one into the FedEx playoffs and I'm smiling as big as Matt Kuchar!! Who just happens to be your Barclay's winner for 2010! WOO HOO!!! Going into Sunday I wasn't sure who was going to be winning this tourney - but honestly, I wasn't exactly counting on Kuchar or Stricker to be in the hunt at the end - but all...

  • 2010 FedEx Cup Playoffs!

Well, it's here, playoff season. It's taken me awhile to get used to this whole FedEx Cup thing, but it's starting to sink in! Last week it was the race to get into the Top 125 in FedEx Cup points in order to make it into the first round at the Barclays this week. When they revamped the scoring a few years ago, the points during the regular...

  • Good Golf Reading!

In order to get my golf fixes I have a few places and a few writers that I like to keep up with...sometimes I forget, but I'm glad a got caught up with Shane Bacon. He recently caddied for Irene Cho at the LPGA's Safeway Classic out in Oregon and he wrote about it here: http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil_ball_golf;_ylt=AtZGYdzrivpTmXZCCRuNxStrZoh4...
