Annika Sorenstam to Retire at End of Season

Golf International Magazine Online

Annika Sorenstam ignored her notes and spoke from the heart. One of golf’s greatest players was leaving the game, and she handled her retirement announcement the way she would a 10-foot birdie putt with a tournament on the line. With command and composure...

Thought this might be fun. Getting you inside the ropes here at the Championship. Tommy Armour III, Bernhard Langer and Brian Davis walk to the tenth tee at 7:23 a.m. There is a great putting green right next to the backside teeing area — something I...

I don’t know why I love the underdog. Perhaps it is “the kid from out of nowhere” syndrome, or sympathy for the three legged dog. Whatever the case may be, Paul Goydos certainly qualifies on all counts. Whether it wasn’t his day, or his forty-two year...

PGA Here I Come

I played 27 holes today with my friend Roger of Yorkshire and some random guy from South Korea who showed up at The Golf Club last night. It was a perfect day for golf weather wise, but the new guy held us back. He was a very nice chap. However, he was...

Taking one side out of play ...
Hi Scott, I've heard pros talk about taking one side out of play, and that idea appeals to me but I have no idea how to accomplish it. The biggest consistent roadblock to me scoring well is keeping the tee shot in play, especially at the course I play most often, which punishes even slightly off-line tee shots. I have tried to counter this by hitting...

Re: Lefty Golfers...
Hi Lefty, I liked your analysis of your picks to date...I'm a numbers nerd, so I was impressed! We did a pool last week for the Players - you got 24 guys and the most interesting stat was that the guy who had the most guys make the cut was in last place (we base it on player winnings) - and the guy who had the most guys miss the cut won - picking...

Re: RE: Michelle Wie and Majors
Yeah, Ty Tryon comes to mind. I hope for her sake it's not over. The LPGA would be good to have another BIG name on its tour. I just wish she's leave the damn PGA tour alone. In my last post in this thread I made mention that she has accepted a bid to play in another men's event on PGA Tour. My GAWD wont she just leave it alone already.

Re: Tiger putts better that the rest!
No argument here, GA ... I'm not a big fan of "putts per round" or even "putts per GIR" because they don't tell the whole story ... for example, I would expect the guy who's leading in "scrambling" to also be near the top of "putts per round" because those two categories are very inter-related ......

Re: It is officially Spring, right??
You sound like the group of guys that play at Eagle Knoll down here ... they play all year 'round ... in the winter, they all have cart covers and propane heaters ... a bit too ambitious for me (at least until I retire!) ... We're breaking all kinds of records for rain this spring, I think ... that, plus moving, plus busy job, has made it tough...
