With back-to-back major championships on the Champions Tour the last two weeks, the U.S. Seniors Open and the Ford Seniors Players Championship the intensity has been unbelievable. Although I played pretty well in Detroit, I didn't accomplish what I'd hoped to after playing so well at the Seniors Open in Kansas the week before. Again, I didn't hole the key putts to keep momentum going in each round. Even so, I think I finished tied for 22nd or something like that.
I'm glad to be home for a week to rest and recharge my batteries. It's also time for me to check in with the office and get caught up with a few of our other projects. Frankly, I'm a little hesitant about traveling to Turnberry, Scotland next week for the British Senior Open, our third major in a row. However, after spending a few days at home getting caught up and resting, I've decided to make the trip and I'll be leaving on Sunday.
I really enjoy the style of golf in Scotland and Ireland and I played pretty well at Turnberry in the past. I think I finished fifth in the Seniors Open 2 or 3 years ago. It's a great golf course to walk, however with plantar fasciitis in my right foot, walking on that hard, uneven ground may not be such a good idea, but I just can't turn down the opportunity play in a great championship like the British Seniors Open.
I'll be leaving on Sunday in order to have time to play a practice round or two before we start tournament play on Thursday. Hopefully, we'll have reasonable weather (I don't think we'll have the 105 degree temperatures we're having in Texas). I'm hoping for an 85-degree Scottish heat wave without the Scottish wind and rain.
I'm rested, my batteries are recharged and I'm excited about playing in Scotland. Hopefully I can pull it all together for the third major here in a row. Come back next week and I'll tell you how it went.
