My wife and I had a streak going for quite a few years where every professional sports team we bought season tickets for went under ... we had considered using that to extort free tickets from other teams (under the logic that if we didn't BUY them, then the team wouldn't fold) ... maybe you should try that with some of the pros? It might be a good way to fund those golf trips!

Hey Cathy you can alway try again at http://www.4majors.com its a simple to play fantasy golf site just for the majors. You might have better luck there!

On my bucket list...to play a round of golf with Sam and 2Putt...hopefully at the same time! Can you imagine the entertainment value?!! I'm always up for playing with very fun & very good looking guys...and you too, Sam. ;-)

I think I honestly would pay the $500+ to play Pebble once, but when I researched it awhile back you also have to stay there, and it ends up costing about $1500 - then my budget brain has some problems (not to mention all the travel expenses to get there)...and what if you book it and the weather is crummy?

I'm pretty much with you ... most days I would prefer two rounds on a playable, scenic course instead of one on a course that doesn't permit any mistakes, especially if I'm out playing with friends ... but I really enjoy the tougher courses also because they require continual focus and help me gage the current state of my game ... the course I play regularly is rated 72.8/134 from the Blues, and is frustrating because missing the fairway by just a little bit on many holes will cause the ball to bound down into a hazard ... but when I play a good round there, I really feel like I've accomplished something, so in that respect I would rather shoot 78 on that course than 72 on the local county course ... but as an added bonus, my course has the great vistas, elevation changes, and other things you mentioned, all for about $40 ... bonus!

I’ve made a little money now and then, but I am hardly rich. Over the years, I’ve paid anywhere from $20 and $500 for a round of golf. I’ll admit that playing at the very exclusive Preston Trails in Dallas was a treat. Everything was perfect including the food. On the other hand, I’ve had great fun playing municipal courses where the primary goal was to get the beer as cold as the hotdogs.

Luckily, I’m really fun to play with and very good-looking, so I get a lot of free rounds. However, when golf ceases to be fun I won’t play at any price, and that includes free.

Get out of town!! That is AWESOME! Way to go UST! I was having a little curling broom envy while I was watching the women this afternoon - I think Canada was using Asham brooms and the Swiss were using Balance Plus. Just like golf shafts, curling brooms have really evolved over the past decade - they are so much lighter!!! (and more expensive) The nice thing is, you can buy replacement heads instead of having to buy a whole new broom. Now you really need to get out and curl, Sam!! How about a Tees2Greens league team!!

Nice work, and thanks for taking the conversation to a higher level. Now, for the really important news, I just found out that UST Mamiya, one of the great golf shaft companies in the world, also makes graphite curling broom handles. As a matter of fact, most of the curling broom handles in the Olympic are UST Mamiya and made right here in Big “D”.

How's that for a golf connection?

I kid you not, 2putt, it was in the low 40's...sometimes Lake Superior can actually make it warmer in the winter when it's not ice covered. On Saturday, when I left home for the Twin Cities it was 37 degrees...when I got to MSP it was 18 degrees. Weird.

Do you still have snow down there, 2putt?

45°? Methinks your thermometer is broken ... I'm way down in Missouri and we haven't seen 45° for quite a while ... 35°, maybe ... but I digress ...

I love golf, but I also love the off-season ... time to recharge the ol' batteries and hopefully drop one or two of those bad habits that I developed during the previous season ... but in a few weeks I will start calling around to the local courses to see who's having a public league during the week that will fit my schedule!

I couldn't agree more, Sam. The funny thing is, I think there are probably more "nice guys" than we know on the tour, but because we've focused our attention on "celebrity" or conflict we seem to overlook what might be considered "ho-hum"...that's a shame. Just like when Tiger was out for his surgery, I hope that golf fans take the opportunity to get to know some of the many great guys on Tour that maybe aren't as flashy, don't have the publicity machines, but can still play golf.
