Well well...it seems my girl is making her long awaited come back to LPGA Tour! As we all know she we will certainly kick some butt once she gets her playing head back on and her opening 75 did have some good moments. I know she will come back strong tomorrow and make the cut. I can’t wait to see her get going and play to her true potential and make you all eat your words!! HAHA!

Freddie you just made a huge mistake by opening up this can of worms.Angry

She is an over rated media draw and you know it!

Nice 75 today and you said it had some good moments? Where? Her ONE birdie on one of the easist holes? You have to be kidding.

You know she will not even break 80 tomorrow and leave the event with another missed cut and no sight of any future.

The poor girl is done and she is not even old enough to drink away her sorrow! Drinks

Tell me if I am crazy Freddie please...oh and people can I get some help here on this. Its beat down week for Fred!

You said it, Golf Addict!  Wie is a wie-bit over-rated.  She still needs to grow up and get away from her supporters (NOT).  Really, she should fire the entire team and find a decent agent.  I really doubt she will make a cut this year.  She should have stayed amateur and played for the Stanford team (provided she could qualify).

The girl obviously has (had?) some skills, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that she could get her game back ... but the world of sports is also full of examples of players with tons of skills that fadeded away and never returned ... to be honest, I would like nothing better than to see her succeed, but I agree with many others --> it sure looks like she's going to have to get a new set of advisors and handlers before that could happen ...

If you're not having fun, lower your standards.

Re: RE: Michelle Wie and Majors

I think there is a big difference between being over-rated and over-hyped...the media, her own "handlers", her sponsors, and Michelle herself have done a fantastic job of creating a hype and buzz around her...it wasn't exactly her golf results that were putting her in the news it was the talk that was putting her there (her age, wanting to play on the PGA tour, her looks, sponsors, etc)....  She has had some flashes of game, and that has helped (her driving distance mostly), but I really don't think when it comes to Michelle Wie it's ever really been about her "game". (of course her lack of game seems to keep her right in the news, too)

Is she "over"?  Oh please.  Only if she wants to be - this girl can make a great living on the LPGA tour one day (and she has plenty of time!), but I believe it will only happen when she's truly ready to commit to all that it takes to succeed out there...she had been handicapped by the very environment that created all the hype (and let's not forget money) to start out with and I agree that maybe different influences are needed in her life for her to get the focus back on her game...if that is what she wants.

I'm hardly a fan...but if she starts showing some real results on the golf course I just might be.

Yeah, Ty Tryon comes to mind.

I hope for her sake it's not over. The LPGA would be good to have another BIG name on its tour. I just wish she's leave the damn PGA tour alone. In my last post in this thread I made mention that she has accepted a bid to play in another men's event on PGA Tour. My GAWD wont she just leave it alone already.

Re: RE: Michelle Wie and Majors

It seems the Big Wie-zy has qualified for the 08 Women's US Open.

    In bigger news:

Michelle Wie, ranked 200 in the world and received a Sponsor Exemption, carded another 1-under par 71 and is now 2-under par for the tournament, 8 shots off the lead in 2008 Wegmans LPGA.

She seems to be playing better which might mean DOOMZ for the men Wink

The Big Weezy is off to a bad start. She shot an 8 over par 81 today and is t-146. I'm thinking she wont be making the cut. OUCH!!!

Re: RE: Michelle Wie and Majors

She scored a quintuple bogey (thats a 9 on a par 4 for those counting). Who ever thought youd see that out of a "professional golfer"?

Ugh...it just pains me to read Michelle Wie articles...she's turning into a car accident...I want to turn away, but I can't - I read the quotes of what she said and I really have to wonder, does she have an agent? Isn't there SOMEONE who can help her not say things that make her sound either less than what a professional should sound like? (I know she's only 18, but she's been exposed to the media and press for years now)  When I watched her pretournament interview at the women's Open, I just felt bad for her, it was almost like she was coming off ditzy.

She's dropped to 309 in the rankings - ouch.  Does she really want to be a professional golfer?  It's hard to see it lately.

Re: RE: Michelle Wie and Majors

I couldnt agree more chipshot. I really wish she would go away for awhile then come back when she matures and she has developed her talent and can be a winning golfer. But like you, I cant stand her and as such cant stop myself from opening every article about her to see how she has screwed up this week.
