Tiger vs Jack in the Majors

Tiger will never catch Jacks 18 Majors; there is just no way. The fields are just way too deep and he is getting older.

Although Tiger is the best I have ever seen and if Jack were in his prime today with Tiger, Eldrick would sling him around more times that not, he just is that good. But trying to win 7 more times in 10 years or so when you only get 4 chances a year, it looks out of reach.

Week in and week out each player in the field has the chance to win and that is just too much to overcome for anyone.

I look forward to seeing Tiger try, but it just wont happen.

Re: RE: Tiger vs Jack in the Majors

This is mainly for Golf Addict,

I believe that Tiger will win 20 majors before he turns 52.  I say 52 because I believe that Tiger will not play a single Senior Tour tournament before then.  He will stay on the Money Tour.

That does not mean that I want him to win any more, I would love to see him take a fall.  I don't want him hurt, I just want someone to "take him down" kind of like Leon Spinks.  Toothless and wasted.

But, my gut says that we have just seen the first half of Tiger in the Majors.  I do not believe that there are many pros on tour that have the nerve of Tiger.  He will most likely stand as the best for another 20+ years.  I still have high hopes for Jim Furyk and Zack Johnson.  Now Zack has the nerve, but will it last?

Well, betting against Tiger will get you burned.  But it will be amazing if he did reach that record.  I think he'll get damn close....but I might have to agree with Golf...that milestone may just stay forever.  Of course....that what we said about 61 home runs in '61.

GB, you have issues pal. Want Tiger taken down? Wow, you better ask the Tees2Greens staff to take that post down, if anything happens to him, the authorities will find you.

There are just some records that will not be broken; like Byron Nelson's 11 Straight, Sam Sneads 82 wins, JACKS 18 MAJORS! Its not going to happen. He will not even win one this year.

Life will catch up to him. He is unreal, but he just has way more competition than Jack or Hagen did. The law of averages says it cant be done in the modern era.

I didn't mean that I want him hurt.  I just mean that I would like him shut out.  As in "No Wins McCord" before he went to the Senior Tour.  I would like to see several years with no wins for Woods.

Just wishful thinking on my part.  I still expect him to win 20 majors before he is finished with the regular tour.

Anytime Tiger enters a tournament he is in contention to win, but I really think he has become content to rest on his laurels and isnt as hungry or as driven as he used to be. Also, he shouldve fixed his relationship with Butch Harmon and got him back as his swing coach before Phil snatched him up.

Re: RE: Tiger vs Jack in the Majors

As of late Tiger's swing has not been the problem. In both the Masters and US Open his putter has let him down. How someone can hit 17 of 18 greens at the US Open and only shoot 1-under par tells the whole story.

Re: RE: Tiger vs Jack in the Majors

All right, I want to jump in here.  I am not - NOT - a Tiger fan.  It would please me if he would fall off the face of the earth.  We all know that is not going to happen.  Everyone seems to be slamming him for failing to win majors lately.  Come on, he has not won the majors lately, but he finished second twice.  The guy's performance is still super.  He is so far ahead of the others, that no one can catch him for the next two years if he goes into a coma for the next two years.  He also has to have been distracted for the last several months with the baby coming and all.  Now it is good for him to have that out of the way so that he and Jeff Gordon can get along with life and start winning majors and NEXTEL cups again.

First of all Jeff Gordon has got a whole different problem now that my boy has joined the team! I can#%92t wait to see what happens there!

For the record, I don#%92t hate Tiger. He is the best player I have ever seen and the best modern era golfer to live and I am privileged, along with you all, to watch this kid transform and become the player and icon that he is. The bottom line is that he will not catch Jack and his majors, nor will he even get close in the seconds. Jack just didn#%92t have to contend with everything that Tiger has to and like I said, the depth of each field he plays again just keeps getting better and better and the players are beginning to see that he is beatable as he gets older.

These are facts; don#%92t mess with them!:P

Your facts are skewed and if you dont think Tiger will win at least 6 more majors then your brain is also skewed. Tiger will successfully defend his British Open title, watch and see.

Gordon will still OWN Jr no matter who he races for.

Amen to that.  Gordon will ALWAYS be twice the racer of Dale Jr.  Maybe Jeff will let Jr shine his shoes.

Re: RE: Tiger vs Jack in the Majors

I agree with BigJoeD.  Tiger is so much better than anyone else on tour that he will probably win six or even ten more majors before he is done.  Now, that doesn't mean that I want it to happen, but it probably will happen.  And if he ever does decide to join the Senior Tour after he is 50, he will even win ten Senior majors.  Go Jim Furyk!!!
