Re: Counterfeit Golf Equipment on EBAY

I got a counterfeit R7 CGB 5 Wood.  Purchased from a seller that was supposedly in California.

When the club came from China,  a said to myself  OH SH___ !

Opened it up and it looked OK.

I hit about 50 balls with it, and noticed that the trajectory was wrong (lower ball flight).

Here are the differences that I was able to identify:

    1. The Serial Number was a different font.
    2. A shortcut was used in making the mold.  The radius around the weight adjustments were squared off, rather than an arc.
    3. The Hosel was a little more narrow comming into the shaft.
    4. Finally the shaft seemed to be a little less stiff than the real thing.

There is No way you could tell from the pics.  Plus they could use pics of the real club and ship the FAKE.

Thanks for sharing your story - did you attempt to get your money back?  Are you using the club still, or did you buy another one?  I've heard that if you pay through PayPal they will help you get a refund from the seller if you get a product that isn't as advertised.

I have been very lucky with the purchases I've made, but I now do a lot more research on the seller and ask questions before considering making a bid.

Negotiated with the seller and Got 75% refund and am selling the club as a "knockoff".

I am not using the club becuase the shaft is not siff enough, and I can launch my old 5-wood higher.
