    Two web site problems

    Hi,

    (1) when I click a link in the e-mail newsletter, the site hangs when trying to load ... the URL shows in the browser, but the page never loads ... it's not a big problem since I can just type the home URL in and then search for the article, but it is a bit annoying

    (2) when I am on the web site, if I don't click or type for a while the page disappears and shows the infamous "cannot display page" error ...

haven't had similar problems with other web sites, so I don't think it's a browser or firewall issue ... but any tips would be appreciated

    Regards,

    Greg

    Re: Two web site problems

    Good Morning, Greg.

First off, thanks for joining and posting up!  You've made some good ones already.

    1) Yes, this is highly annoying. Some ISP's (AOL-owned mostly) block the outbound links within our emails when they are categorized as 'bulk' mailings. And I'm willing to bet that's what's happening to in this case.  Unfortunately, due to the way our newsletter is put together, there's not much we can do about this other than offer you a couple of other ways to receive notifications about new Tees2Greens content.  You can subscribe via RSS, or you can receive email updates from individual blog posts.  Feel free to contact me directly for additional assistance on this matter.

    2) This one I can't explain.  What type of connection do you have to the internet (dial-up, cable, ISDN, etc...)?  Who's your ISP?  And what browser and version are you running?

Thanks for expressing the issues you're facing.  I hope we can get them sorted out quickly.

    David

    Re: Two web site problems

I'm running pretty standard stuff ... IE6/7 ... DSL via Embarq (formerly Sprint) ...

re: problem #1 ... does your site require cookies before it will load from an e-mail link?  I don't think I have freed up your site in the firewall yet because it doesn't give me any hassles when I go there directly, but maybe something like that is going on?

none of these are deal-breakers ... for example, re: problem #2, as I was posting yesterday and today I didn't have any problems (but I didn't leave it sit unattended either) ... I'm just leaving for a business trip, but maybe I'll do some more scientific testing later in the week ... I just thought I would mention it to esnure you were aware of it ...
