I'm with hallmark ... nothing like free golf stuff to bring me out of the woodwork, even though I really love the shaft I'm using now ...

I'm from Missouri and I've been enjoying the newletters for a long time  ... I've been playing golf for over 40 years ... my handicap hovered in the low-to-mid teens for about 30 years until I finally got smart and focused a bit more energy on improving my short game and hitting more 3-woods, hybrids, and long irons off the tee on tight holes ... those two changes have helped me to drop into single digits and I hope to keep it there for many years to come ...

In my bag ... Adams Redline RPM Dual 10.5° Driver (ProLaunch Blue shaft) ... TaylorMade 300 Series 3 Wood ... King Cobra Baffler 18° hybrid ... Callaway Big Bertha 4-PW, AW (with 2, 3, SW not in the bag at the moment) ... Nicklaus JN Series 56° and 60° wedges ... Odyssey White Hot 2-ball putter ... Titleist NXT Tour ball ... I rarely buy the latest technology, but do enjoy reading about it and am willing to switch or upgrade when I feel it will improve my game ...

Thanks for letting us know a little about you - liked reading what is in your bag...which Callaway irons do you have?  The 2006's?  I bought the 2004 models last year (Reg. Graphite) and LOVE them - I have always used Men's irons (even though I'm a girl), but this was my first set of graphite shafts...they took a little getting used to, but I'm happy with the change...I can't wait to pull them out this year.

How often do you get out to play?

Three years ago I went to the Lake of the Ozarks on a golf vacation - great place, but the weather wasn't great when we were there...but being from MN, and willing to play in the snow, we played everyday -  would love to go back sometime and enjoy the courses in the sun!

What's up TwoPuttBird.  Glad to have you on!  Missouri huh?  I went to school at Westminster in Fulton.  I do have to say...during the Fall and Winter there they need to change the spelling of that state to Misery.  But other than that...I'm beginning to do the same thing....focus on impriving my short game...hitting more 3 woods and hybrids and just my overall putting skills.  How do you like that King Cobra Hybrid?  I've veen eying it.

My Berthas are older ... I don't think they are even 2004 ... I bought them used in 2004, I think ... so I guess that would make them 1996 (my recollection is that they didn't redesign them between 96 and 04, is that right?) ... but they were a big step up from my previous clubs (cavity back copies) and they still work quite well ... I've got my eye on a set of X-series, though ...

I get down to the lake area from time to time, but I play most of my local golf at Eagle Knoll just north of Jeff City ... it's a great course, especially for the money ... the next time you pass through here you really should play it ... http://www.eagleknoll.com/

I really like the Baffler ... I won a little money at a tournament at Jeff City CC a few years ago (yea, go me!) and they had one on the sale rack so I picked it up on a lark without even hitting it ... it is very easy to hit (but I believe that is a common trait with all of the good hybrids) ... I miss my 2-iron, which I didn't have trouble hitting off the tee or with a good lie in the fairway, but the Baffler is better off a variety of lies in the fairway and rough ... my last trip to Myrtle Beach I hit several hybrids on a launch monitor and they were all pretty similar to me, so I'm sticking with this one and may even pick up a 21° as well ...

The thing that has probably helped my short game the most are my wedges ... I bought a 56° and a 60° with milled faces, and they make the shots from around the green SO much easier that I can't believe I waited this long to buy them ... and this spring I'm going to cut down the shaft on my putter so that I can bend over a bit and still keep my elbows quiet, which I think will improve my ability to make more 6'-10' putts (and miss fewer from inside 6'!) ...
