    THE 2008 MASTERS!

Anyone out there planning to attend the Masters this year? We did not hit any tickets this year in the lottery. For any of you going for the first time get ready for an emotional and memorable experience. Would be interested in your first impression when you clear the clubhouse and the shops and see the course for the first time when you walk out into the clearing and everything "opens up".

    Re: The Masters

Man, I would love to go see the Master in person. A local radio station use to have a contest where the winner would be flown to the Masters in a private jet for a one night stay to see the Par 3 event. Apparently Jack Nicklaus is going to play in this years event.

I would need to get into shape to walk that course. I've heard its a bear to walk and TV does it NO justice.

    Re: The Masters

I too, would love to go see the Masters.  I volunteer for the AT&T National in Bethesda, Maryland each year.  I used to volunteer for the Sony Open when I lived in Hawaii.  I wonder if the Masters would let me volunteer there?  I would even drive the 400 miles to get there, and sleep in my car.  That would be awesome.  Keep dreaming, Gary

    Re: The Masters

Last year when we were at the Masters on practice day we talked to several of the volunteers. All of them had been doing it for years with no signs of pulling out. Several had worked there for over 20 years. Some will leave their positions to family in their wills, like their tickets. One little lady had a walker and she was still doing volunteer work. Just another special thing about the Masters--the volunteers. For their work they get to play a free round at the Masters course. On practice days it is really interesting to talk to them and hear their stories.

I think all of us with Tees2Greens will attend the Masters in our dreams.  My dream is of Steve Stricker winning his first Green Jacket.  And I will be there to see him sink that final putt.

That is a GREAT dream, Scoops!  I think I predicted that Stricker was going to win a major this year - the Masters would be a fine choice.

Of course right now I'd just like to see him win this week in New Orleans. Smile

After the way Tiger blew his chances last week, I think he'll be on a mission for the Masters.

So I need 4 guys for my Fantasy golf team for the Masters...obviously Tiger is in...and I'm thinking Mickelson is a lock - but who should my other 2 guys be?

    Re: The Masters

Well, for me, I would choose Geoff Ogilvy, if you have the salary cap to get him.  And then, for those lesser salaried golfers, I think Love is on his way back and may be worth a glance.  Of course, I still think that Brandt Snedeker is a good choice.  Good luck, Chipshot!

    Re: The Masters

I have got to say I am so impressed with the Masters.org web site - coverage of the par-3, player interviews and live coverage starting Thursday!  Woo Hoo!

Watched a little of Els and Scott interviews yesterday...cool.  Thankfully I can close my door at work and make it look like I'm REALLY concentrating on something important.

Scoops -  we don't have cap in the league I'm in, but you are limited to picking guys only so many times and you can only have a limited amount on your roster for the whole year... I think we're going to end up going with Woods, Mickelson, Singh, and Choi.  We'll see what happens!

    Re: The Masters

It is officially the best time of the year, MASTERS WEEK IS HERE!

This is my absolute favorite event and since I have walked the hallowed grounds I have a new appreciation for this place.

I walked where all the greats have walked and stood where each Masters Champion received his green jacket!

This year Tiger has to be the absolute favorite. This is his tournament to lose as good as he is playing and how extremely difficult this event has become. As we know all efforts to Tiger Proof golf courses has not held back history and greatness and this week will be no different.

Tiger wins by four shots or more, somewhat resembling his 1997coronation and thrashing of the competition. I can’t wait for Thursday!

I was checking out the beautiful Masters pictures on the site…awesome!!

    Re: THE 2008 MASTERS!

I must say that I was underwhelmed by the weekend coverage ... part of it might have been the lack of HD (my local stations aren't in HD on DirecTV yet, and I haven't had time to install an antenna at our new house with all of the other moving-related things going on ... but the ESPN coverage came in wonderfully in HD on Thu & Fri!) ... overall I found the coverage very choppy and hard to follow ... way too many shots on tape delay (and out of order, no less -- I couldn't count how many times we saw someone hit a shot and already knew the outcome of the other player's shot because we could see the result, then they went back and showed that shot also) ... and many of the set pieces were "forced", IMHO, trying to draw too much drama out of them ...

Still, it was the Masters, and it was good.

    Cheers!

    Re: THE 2008 MASTERS!

I'm suprised there hasn't been any Tiger bashing or cracks about Leftys latest moon shot.  For myself I can't help but be amazed that the "other" south african triumphed in the end (does he make wine as well as he plays golf, too?)  So much for me downplaying his early success at the Masters, reminding my fellow golfniks that there was a lot of golf to be played and some damn good golfers just a few strokes back.  Besides that I reminded them how intimidating that red shirt can be on Sunday and "how many green jackets have hung in his closet?"  Well, it's a good thing they left the prognosticating to Nostradamus after all.....

    Re: THE 2008 MASTERS!

I agree that we'll always wonder whether TI would have been able to hold on if TW had been in the last group, but the bottom line is that he did indeed hold on ... and looking at the other Sunday scores in the top ten is a clear indication of how difficult it was out there for everyone, so the errors made by all of the top players were far from flukes ... I was especially surprised that Steve Flesch blew up so badly when it looked like he was swinging so relaxed all weekend, but I guess that's what the back nine on Sunday at the Masters will do to you ...
