2008 Shell Houston Open - Redstone GC Tournament Course · Humble, TX

Another spare PGA Tour event for Texas rolls into Humble Texas for the Shell Houston Open. Houston Open is not even in Houston, maybe that is part of the problem. We are going to get spared to death only to be somewhat saved by Phil Mickelson who is playing about as good as me right now and that’s not saying much. No Vijay, we get Jeev in Texas. No Goosen we get a rookie that plays with two golf gloves on.... Gainey. Why are we always so spared in Texas? Because it’s either raining on you or its 120 degrees. Basically miserable! My picks for this week will have to be Phil since there is no one he is scared of. Adam ‘I can't putt” Scott and Chad.

Even though this field is somewhat marginal, I had a hard time with my picks this week!  I realize that I need to go for the win and not the emotion, but I can't help it.  So once again I am putting Steve Stricker on the roster - REALLY considered not using him, but as a loyal fan I feel like I need to show my support...plus, I think this is just a preview for some great things at Augusta.  I'm also sticking with my winner from last week Padraig Harrington...I'm not sure this course is exactly set up for him, but with his solid finish last week I've got to think he's in pretty good spirits.  Go Irish!  My final pick is Stuart Appleby - he's got a great record at this tournament, and well, he's Australian.

Leonard seemed like a natural pick as well, and he was almost in place of Stricker, but I just couldn't commit.  Also on my short list were Bubba Watson and Choi.   I am also rooting for Davis Love - it would be so great to see him at the Masters next week!!  Long shot, I know, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Good grief!  Adam Scott -8 so far in round one??  Apparently he decided he can putt today.  Go Steve Stricker!!Smile

There is just something interesting to me about a guy that has a last name for a first name...I must admit I'd never heard of Johnson Wagner, but his name, and the fact that he's leading the Shell on day 2 right now made me want to find out who this guy is.

All of my guys tee off in the afternoon, so it's no fun watching other people move up the leaderboard...except for Davis Love! - although it looks like he might be a little too far back for a win this week.  I'm just hoping all of my guys just make the cut this week...oh, and I also hope Stricker wins. Smile

I picked KJ Choi this week.  He is having a great second round.  Too bad I had Slow Ben Crane in reserve.  At least Freddy is making the cut.  Would love to see him have a great weekend.  Hard to activate Crane after a 7 under Friday.  He will probably shoot 3 over on Saturday or Sunday.  Looks like Stricker is headed south on the leaderboard.  Sure would like him to shape up and have a good Masters.  Maybe I will actually see some of the Shell this weekend?

I think I may be back on top! Way to go Chad!

With a 64 and 65 on Friday and Saturday he put him self into great position to win and if wasnt for a few slips it would have been a great battle. Nonetheless my man came through!! Yes

Good luck this week, the Masters is finally here!
