    Trouble striking the ball

Hello, i am trying out for my high school golf team in a couple of weeks and i have had trouble getting my 5 iron to strike the ball well.  I have had a couple of lessons but nothing seems to help.  I went to play 18 holes yesterday and i was hitting the ball well on the practice range.  Then my last few balls i hit were getting thinned or chunked every which direction.  I went from shooting consisetly around 90 to this past round of a 111.  I tried fixing my grip, taking my swing more outside, and adjusting how fast i swing but still no luck.  Any suggestions to help me? Heres a video of my swing...  If the video doesnt work, just click on the site ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQPpWRoihis

    Re: Trouble striking the ball

Okay, here's the quick and simple solution. You have a good golf swing but you are not in the best position to use it. With your hands so close to your body at address that you have to mve the hands away from your body at takeaway and that causes your body to raise up and then your swing becomes too steep and cause you to pull the club too in on the way down causing chunks, thins and rights.

Fix your posture. Bend more at your hips so that your arms are hanging more down and away from your body. From there then feel like your hands and grip on the club move towards your body on the backswing. You will then have more weight on your right side at the top of your swing and then you use your left side to turn out of the way faster. It will feel like you are swinging more to the right from the top of your swiing. This should help you hit more solid shots.

Now go make that team and start on a great High School golf career!
