    PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Well, shoot - after feeling very confident about my opinion about the lack of fashion crisis on the PGA tour, Geoff Ogilvy goes and wins the first event of 2009 and looks, well, less than terrific to me.  Geoff, buddy - you're really not helping my cause!  I'm giving Ogilvy the fashion thumbs down on the facial growth (he's got a great smile though!) and the shirt - it's Hawaii - be bright, or pastel - even white would be good.  That's the shirt you wanted to be photgraphed in?

But then there's Davis - thank heavens for DL3!  My best dressed player takes a nice T2 finish at the Mercedes and shows us all what it means to look great on the golf course. (I think all golfers should wear Polo).  And check out the UST ProForce V2 Shaft in his driver!!

The other T2 guy, Anthony Kim looked good in his Nike ensembles but of course throws in the belt buckle bling to stand out just a bit....at first I wasn't crazy about it, but I don't think they go too over the top, do you?  Even Boo looked good in his red shirt that I saw in a few photos.

So even though Ogilvy isn't the look I'd appreciate, I do think he is still in the minority on the course.  I've decided to keep an eye out for the top finishers and how they look on the course to see if good fashion still rules on the PGA tour.  Come on guys, don't let me down!

Hooray!!  A great week for PGA fashion at the Sony - Winner Zach Johnson has a great traditional look  -

And two of my best dressed favorites were T2 this week - David Toms and Adam Scott!  I'm not getting to watch any golf yet, but from the photos I browsed through  - these guys looked good!

We've gone from Hawaii to the desert and I think we can say that our winner, Pat Perez (right), made a solid choice to look sharp in all black...and personally, I love the shoes!!

And I think eventual T-3 finisher Steve Stricker looks very good as well.  I honestly didn't know what 2nd place finisher John Merrick looked like, but he, too chose Gary Player black to wear on Sunday - the logos were a little distracting to me, but overall I think he looks good!

Overall - another week of nice looking winners!!

PS - I'm a little worried if Phil wins next week - will he pick the right shirt this year???

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

I've missed a few weeks, so I hope you all have been keeping an eye on all those snappy dressers on the PGA tour.

Let's review - two weeks ago our winner was none other than one of my favorites - Kenny Perry - woo hoo!

Kenny looks sharp - nice pants, a great maroon shirt and some sporty shoes.  He gets my thumbs up.

On Sunday we saw Nick Watney step into the winner's circle - and I would say overall, he's looking pretty good.  I like a good turtleneck (who in MN doesn't?) so I'm okay with the layered look.  I'm also fans of Titleist and Lexus! Smile

So I would say in the past 2 weeks we've had some nice looking winners!

    Thank heavens Camilo didn't win...

How about this button down sweater from Luke Donald?  I like it!

We'll see what Pebble Beach brings this week - (maybe rain/wind gear?)

(PS - now is a great time to get some awesome prices on golf apparel online!)

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Checking in again on how our winning tour players are dressing - the cool, damp, and really wet weather at Pebble Beach brought out the best gear money can buy - lots of layers!!  The eventual winner of the 54-hole event was Dustin Johnson - once again, a player I didn't know a whole lot about, but was happy to see him in some nice Adidas gear:

Then we have the Northern Trust Open and Phil finds his first win of the season - it's funny, I'm just not sure what it is that makes me think twice about the clothes, but for some reason he seems "off" to me - what do you think?

I think it's interesting that there's a little button inside his collar to keep the collar up - I've never seen that before.

And I'm throwing in a photo of Steve Stricker because he's a favorite of mine - and is that a UST golf shaft??

I wonder if we'll be seeing a photo of Tiger in the winner's circle next week?

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Whoops, lost a few weeks there with my fashion reporting!  I hope you've all been taking notes on how great players are looking out there.  I've decided my pet peeve right now are the white belts - really guys?  Must we?  Oh well...

Here is last week's winner, YE Yang - personally, I'm a fan of the zip up collar, so I liked his shirt, even it it was a bit bright - overall he's okay, isn't he?

This past week we've got 3 winners...First Phil - 2 time winner this year - and again, nothing to get up in arms about, but there's just something about what he's wearing that makes me think there is a better fit for him...but you be the judge...

The "other" PGA event this week crowned Michael Bradley the winner - really liking his shirt and nice pants -

And then finally we've got to give a little love to the Champions Tour - the AT&T Classic winner, Dan Forsman looks classic golf to me - especially like the saddle shoes.

There you have it!  Another week of PGA style - looking good winners!!

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Let's see...it's been a few weeks again since my last fashion update...let's see how are winners have looked lately...

Retief Goosen is looking his sharp self with his Ahead apparel winning the Transitions Champtionship  on March 22.

The sunglasses he had been sporting back in February seemed a bit odd for me, but I think he's given them up now.

Bay Hill's favorite winner, Tiger Woods, had it going on with his Sunday red - I loved this shirt.  Of course I can't think of a time when Tiger hasn't looked good...his Nike brand suits him perfectly.  We'll see if we'll be showing his photo again after the Masters!

And this past weekend's winner, Paul Casey, looks terrific in his Nike Apparel, too.  Two weeks in a row for Team Nike.

Another good few weeks with nicely dressed PGA winners!!

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Angel Cabrera is happy to be wearing green.  And overall, his Sunday outfit said "golfer" - nothing spectacular, but not to shabby either.

The early round chargers, Woods and Mickelson were a great pairing on the course and I think they both looked great on Sunday.

And now for my favorite look of the week...and it's none other than one of my favorite golfers...Steve Stricker!!  Loving the mint green vest and striped shirt with the black.. So sharp!!

And finally, my ode to the Georgia Peach - a few nice orange shirts  - with Stewart Cink being my favorite!!

I think the beauty of Augusta was the real winner this week though.

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Ah, it was nice to look back and see Steve Stricker at the Masters - Loved that outfit!  But it's time to do a little catching up on who's winning and how they look on tour - your winner at the Verizon Heritage was Brian Gay...Brian is wearing SLIGO apparel - the T2G Webmaster reported on this apparel line back in April of 2008 - http://www.tees2greens.com/forums/p/2155/3804.aspx#3804   He's definitely looking "springy" in this winning outfit (which didn't look the greatest with his new red plaid jacket!

Your winner at the Zurich Classic was none other than Midwest native Jerry Kelly - Kelly looks like your Joe Average golfer who knows that khaki always looks good on the course -

And last week Sean O'Hair finds the winner's circle at Quail Hollow - he looks good, but I'm almost wishing he had a little more color going on.

So Brian Gay goes a little nutty with the green pants, but otherwise another good looking group!!

Of course I don't think a fashion watch could be complete right now without talking about John Daly's new apparel sponsor - Loudmouth Golf - I suppose all the Daly fans out there think it's great - but this is just too over the top for me - what do you think about Daly?

    Re: PGA Fashion Watch 2009

Whoops!  I haven't been keeping good watch on PGA fashion over the past few months - but seeing one of my favorite players win and look sharp on the course reminded me that I need to post a great picture of Kenny Perry!!  Really liking the pants!

John Daly will be making an appearance this week so I'm sure we'll be getting an eyefull...enjoy some great golf and watch out for some good or not so good fashion!
