No U.S. Open for Kenny Perry?

The 27th ranked player in the world, 4th ranked in FedEx points and 6th ranked in PGA Tour earnings will not be at this weeks U.S. Open. WTF?Tongue Tied

This makes no sense to me, anyone else?

How does the USGA let the hottest player on the planet right now become non-eligible for the event and have to compete against the other pro shlubs in sectional qualifying? This is unreal!!

I applaud Kenny and his absence from the sectionals and the event if the sport he pours everything into is not going to look up and see they need stipulations for players having a good year or early year qualification so we can place them with them with best players in a major. Joe Schmo that makes it though sectionals to play inn the Open is more than welcome through his hard work, but what about the guys who give and give and win like Kenny Perry.

I can not tell you how disturbing this is and how much I agree with an earlier post in the forum by Golf Addict on how this event has become not only a circus but it is leaving out players who have a right to be there.

They should have left out a few of the lesser foreign players to add players who are having a great year, much like the British does. After all this is the United Sates Open!

Take a page from the Masters. I always love the beginning of the year watching guys have the chance before the event to qualify with a big win. If this were true then we would see Perry as one of this week’s favorites. At the hottest time in his life he is going to fail to have a chance at winning the big one. Thanks USGA!

Let’s all hope he makes the Ryder Cup which will be in his home town this year.
