I have some friends who have a few of these clubs, but I really don't know much about them either.  But they are found in national print publications...  Check out this link:  http://www.kzgolf.com/sites/courses/layout9.asp?id=588&page=31600&sid=1069  This has links to all of the articles and ads they have been in since 2005 - they are rated in several magazines.

    Here is their homepage:  www.kzggolf.com

    They seem very legitimate.

    Re: KZG GOLF

Thank you. That is excellent. I am looking at getting new clubs or should I say my first set. I am older in life and just started to pick up the game and feel like a kid in the candy store for the first time. There is a KZG Dealer not 5 minutes from my house. I might just call over there and set an appointment to see about getting fitted. I am 6;7" so the clubs off the racks or walls in the retail stores will not cut it for me. I am doing a lot of research and getting so many diofferent answers that it gets frustrating as far as what people say about Clubfitting! Anyway, thank you for your reply. I have a 3 Par course 5 minfrom my house that I went and played this morning with a free set of clubs I was goiven and it was horrible because they are not fited for me which I can get rid of them. Anyway, thank you for your feedback I was not sure about this website but looked pretty interesting and I am glad someone else enjoys this game. I look forward to playing really well as fast as I can. It will take a lot of practice

You went golfing yesterday??  AH, I'm so jealous!

It sounds like you are going to need fitted clubs being as tall as you are.  There have been some discussions here in the forums about the process and it pays to do a little research to make sure you're going to a person that has a good reputation.  If you haven't already you should read about 2Putt's experience getting fitted for Callaway clubs...check it out here:  http://www.tees2greens.com/forums/t/4515.aspx

Being a Callaway gal myself, I'd always recommend checking out their clubs, but being that you are just in the beginning phases of a life-long sport, it might be worth it to find a good set of used clubs to get started with and then work your way to investing in a better set.  Someone recommended here awhile ago that you can go to just about any golf shop that helps fit clubs and ask for your right measurements and then you can go search for used clubs (or maybe THEY have some used clubs) - knowing your specs can really help, and if you're upfront with the people that are going to help you, they are often willing to get you started knowing they will probably have a customer down the road.

Ebay can be a great place to purchase clubs.  My brother just got a set of Taylor Made's on Ebay from a pro shop that ordered them for a customer and then they changed their minds - they were the perfect specs and he got a great deal!  But BEWARE of counterfit or questionable feedback sellers.

Online retailers and club companies also have used outlet sales - you can find great deals there, too.

If you're ever looking for other good golf deals like shoes, balls, hats, etc - check out the golf shoping thread or my Top 10 List thread...I like to share my favorite golf deals on the web because my credit card has put me on probation for buying golf stuff for awhile!

Let us know how the golf club hunt is going!!

PS...check out the blogs on the home page...Sam Johnson is pretty funny, but I am always right! Big Smile

    Re: KZG GOLF

I had a swing analysis and a custom fitting last week and hit many different types of clubs that I was tired . HEHEHE. After a lot of research, and the website of KZG.com as well as many others websites,  I have decided to get the OC-II irons that KZG has. I hit them better that any other manufacturer that I tried. Some of the manufacturers only extend their clubs a certain length. Thank you for your help and assistance. I wish I was on this site more often. I need to be. So,  I will have new clubs in amout 2-3 weeks. If you can look at the OC II's on KZG.com and give me your honest feedback that would be great. I feel like I spent hours researching many companies and I am mentally tired. HEHEHE.  It is not like I am going to be a pro. I am a new golfer. I have to look for a driver and at least a 3 wood. Expensive game. All the Irons on e bay are usually the Blade type Irons that I was told would be very difficult for me to hit.

I apologize that I am sending this and just rambling forgive me I am just like a kind in a Candy store. Thank you Vinny

    Re: KZG GOLF

Hi Vinny ... I'm not familiar with that company, but if those are the clubs that felt the best then they were the right choice ... IMHO, the primary factor is that you had them fit to your body and swing, and the exact brand or model isn't as important because all of the reputable manufacturers make clubs that are good enough for recreational players like us.

Having said that, the OC-II irons look like irons that would be good for someone who wants the forgiveness of perimeter and toe weighting combined with the look of a blade ... the clubs have a very narrow top edge for a perimeter weighed club ... in fact, at address they look almost identical to Callaway X-22 Tour irons (and probably the equvalent models from many other manufacturers).

You are correct that this game can be expensive, but so are a lot of other outdoor pastimes ... hunting, fishing, etc. are all expensive once you really get into them ... only you can decide if you're getting a good value from your money.

Good luck with your new clubs, and be sure to stop back and tell us how you like them!

If you're not having fun, lower your standards.

    Re: KZG GOLF

Vinny, CONGRATULATIONS on your new golf clubs!!  And you don't ever have to apologize for talking golf...if you haven't noticed, I could chatter on about it all day! Smile  I think it was great that you were able to get a club fitting and able try out some clubs...can I ask, how much did you pay for your irons?

It sounds like you're still in need of some more clubs....and you're right, it can be expensive!  We're you fitted for a Driver and woods so you can shop around for some sales?  Did they give you a swing speed?

Have you gotten a putter yet?  Sometimes the putter can be an after thought, but if you think about it, the putter is the most used club in the bag!  Finding that right putter that gives you both feel and accuracy is going to go along way to dropping your scores...

If you're an online shopper at all, my favorite sites are www.budgetgolf.net, www.rockbottomgolf.com, www.tgw.com, www.golfgalaxy.com watch for some great sales and low shipping.  But of course I it's great when you can support your local golf shops, too!

Don't forget, you're golfing for me while I'm stuck in the snow for another 4 months!

Again, congrats on the clubs!!  I can't wait to hear about how they are.

    Re: KZG GOLF

I believe that I got a great deal. Anyway, I hope so! I got the KZG OC-II Irons  4-PW, AW, and SW and he re shafted a KZG Gemini 460 Driver for me for the price of 550.00. Which I think was a great deal for clubs. I was not fitted for woods and I am thinking that I would like to get a Hybrid for a 3 iron I think?? I am not sure I want to go the route of a 3 wood and 5 wood kind of thing. I am not sure. For me as a beginner it prbably will be very difficult hitting those woods. or it might just scare me to hit them becvause the face is so small hehehe. A friend of mine gave me a Putter and a older Driver I guess an Ovation 460. He gave me my specs or at least I remember them from a swing analysis that I went through with him. He is a Pro that owns his own store called Golftech Studio. I saw on his website where his is one of the top 100 fitters in the united states, so the site says. And I guess I havwe no right to second guess him. I really dont want to be ripped off of get so hooked thqat I spend money unnecessarily. And I am rambling sorry. I have the day off and there is a Par 3 course maybe 10 minutes from my house that I will go there in a little while to play. I like it. and I get to work on my short game if I even have a short game HEHEHE. When I was going through the Swing analysis I believe my swing speed was 79-84 ??? So I guess that was slow. ??? I am guessing. The clubs were fitted at 1 and 3/4 over standard and 3 degrees upright. If I remember correctly. Before I went to him I went to another Pro (i guess) He did a fitting for me and said I needed clubs 4 inches over standard? I left politely I never heard of such a thing. Anyway rambling again SORRY!!!!    Thank you for the websites, my wife might fight you because oif that hehehehe.  I am on e bay everyday looking at deals I will look at these as well. I need to look at getting a Putter and at least 1 Hybrid. And I hope to be done for a while Until I get our taxes back HEHEHEHE. SHHHH, dont tell the wife HEHEHEHE.

If I am golfing for you for the next couple of months either I or you are in trouble, I might go see the Pro today. I only played with them once and I love them. But it is like this. A surgeon can have the greatest tools in the world but if he does not study and use them and practice then they are not worth much. That did not come out right but I think you know what I am trying to say. Anyway, one more thing before I got these clubs I picked up some clubs on e bay for 30.00 a whole set from 3-PW. Do I try to get them fitted for me or I just might try to see them too. Anyway. Talk golf later I am going to that course I mentioned. Vinny

    Re: KZG GOLF

That price sounds fine to me for a set of clubs that fit you that you like.  1.75" long and 3° upright is a very severe alteration and you certainly would not have gotten that off the rack!

Hybrids for your long irons is a great idea ... they are easier to hit and they instill more confidence at address because of the bigger head.

I recommend getting at least one fairway wood ... if you do not have a club between the driver and hybrid, that will leave you with a very large distance gap (perhaps 50-70 yards for some people) ...  most people find them easy to hit, and you can use it off the tee on narrow holes where it is more important to hit the ball straight than long ... and there will be a lot of cases where you will have fairway shots that you want to go farther than your longest iron/hybrid ... I personally play with a driver, 4-wood, 3 hybrid, 4-9 irons and 4 wedges (and putter, of course), but everyone is different in what they like to carry in their bag.

If you like your new clubs, I would just sell the eBay set ... it would cost a ton to reshaft them, and depending on the head type it might not be possible to bend them up 3°.

    Good luck!

    Re: KZG GOLF

Thank you. This site is great. It is a severe alteration but it does seem to be working for me. I am schedled to take some lessons here in the next couple of weeks and then I will go out to a real course. Scary. I went to my Pro this afternoon after I played the Par 3 course. and I will be looking at getting two Hybrids. I want to get the Hybrid for the 3 iron and 4 iron. I wish everyday can be like today. I have not ordered anything but I will be looking to do that soon. Vinny

    Re: KZG GOLF

I'm looking forward to living vicariously through you, Vinny!  The price does sound very reasonable for getting custom fitted clubs.  And a Par-3 course is probably a great place to get some good practice in with those irons.  I think hybrids are a great idea (I carry 3 myself), but I agree with 2Putt, I hope you will think of investing in a fairway wood, too - it seems like, for me, I spend a good couple of weeks each summer just hitting my 3-wood off the tee because my driver went mental for awhile (it is never MY fault that I hit bad shots, it's the club's fault!)  Big Smile.  I must admit, I'm very jealous of your shopping purchases!!

I've stopped getting golf magazines in the mail, but I'm thinking the 2010 Equipment Hot List has to be out - I'm not sure where you're thinking of getting your hybrids (maybe just sticking with KZG?) but the Hot List has tons of info on all kinds of manufacturers.

It was -10 when I left for work this morning, so I'll just be putting in my living room.  Get out there and golf as much as you can!!

    Re: KZG GOLF

I just bought a KZG 3 wood Cobalt. I bought it off of E Bay yesterday for 30.00 with shipping. A brand new Cobalt. I look forward to getting it and seeing if I might have to reshaft it I probably will not have to. It is KZG.com under Fairway woods. I am not sure what Hybrids that I will look at. I will try to research those today. I will look at the 2010 Equipment Hot list. Forgive me for this question, but what is all the talk about on the golf channel about new Grooves and what does that mean for me as a new golfer????? Do you have any suggestions on Hybrids????? I can talk Golf all Day. I will watch the Tounament today for the first Round. I also volunteered at what was the Wachovia championship here in Charlotte NC It will be the Quail Hollow championship. I will be walking with whomever they chose on Wednesday for the PRO AM ,  Saturday and Sunday . Who knows who the pro will be. They call what I am doing the Standard Bearer?? If I remember correctly. I will be holding up the sign of what their score is. But I will be walking 18 holes those three days. I need to get in shape. Anyway,  I will play that 3 Par course again today. The high will be 57 degrees today. Not too bad. I play 18 holes for 14.00 dollars not a bad price. Please let me know your suggestions for Hybrids. Re: KZG GOLF

There are a lot of great hybrids out there, so it will be best to hit a few and see what you like ... the hot list is a great place to start, but don't worry if the one you like is only a Silver instead of Gold or something like that ... in fact, you might check out last year's list if it's still available and save some money on last year's hot clubs ... there are some different styles of heads, so look around for one that fits your eye and feels good to hit ... my Callaway FT is great, but I also really liked the Cobra Baffler that I used in my previous set of clubs (I would have just kept it, except that it was a 2 and I wanted a 3 because I changed from a 3-wood to a 4-wood when I bought this set) ... you will find hybrids very easy to hit, which will give you a lot of confidence on long fairway shots and narrow driving holes ... I love to hit 3 irons and 2 irons (and yes, I even owned a 1 iron!), but I readily admit that the hybrids are a better, more flexible way to go ... once you get used to them, you'll use them for a lot of different shots ... even as a chipper from off the green ...

Don't worry about the grooves ... they changed the rules for the cross-sectional shape of grooves, but only on the pro tours, so it doesn't affect us (at least not until we turn pro!) ...

It will be a great experience to be a standard bearer at a pro tournament, especially on the weekend!  You'll have to give us the full scoop afterwards.

If you're not having fun, lower your standards.
